Wood Burned Wolf by Freakaru Wood Burned Wolf by Freakaru
My first attempt at wood burning! This little guy's only 1"x1 1/2" . Needless to say it was fun and I'm looking forward to working more with this medium.

It reminds me of those old European wood cuts...don't ask me what century, you'd know better than me Haha, but yeah, I love this style. Very nice :P

Looks like an illumination from a medieval bestiary. Great!

Well it turned out very well - I've tried a bit of that style myself lately for my medieval animations, and it's a tricky thing to get right ;)

This really has quite a bit of detail for something so small. It looks sort of medievally. What sort of tools/materials did you use?

The wood felt kind of like particle board, not too sure though. And it's just a small saudering iron that I used to get the design in. I was really going for a more medieval look! Glad it came through!

That sounds like a handy way of doing it- the only time I tried, I heated a bit of wire in a candle flame. It left nice solid black marks, but was prone to burning right through the wood (though it was only balsa wood). I certainly don't think it would have been suitable for doing the sort of half-burnt bits you've managed here.

This is super beautiful, there's tons of detail in this. For you're first attempt I wouldn't have guessed that this is the first time you've work with wood burning. Would you do a trade for something like this in the future?

I'm interested in a trade, though it would depend on what it was!

Haha, what would you look for? I can for sure do traditional mixed media (Watercolour, and pencil crayon etc.) or digital of course if you were to look through my gallery. I've got to fix my scanner to get my traditional up. I'm defiantly interested in doing a trade with you.

I don't know if I'd be willing to do an art trade. I'm always looking for new art materials or pieces of natural media like bone, furs, or wood though.

Alright, the most thing I've got to the things you've listed is a coyote tail key chain and a resin replica of the bottom of a wolf's jaw. If not I'll let you know if I get some good stuff in that may interest you. ^^
